  1. I would really love to do this, as cycling from Strand to Technopark will be just what i need to get my fitness ready for the burger and cycling season, but what about the taxis , like today when the traffic light was out at mooiberge the taxis took the yellow line as there right of way it was bad this morning.

    1. @Monique

Find out if there are cycle groups in Technopark (cycling from Strand / Somerset-West) and join them. I know of at least 3 people doing this almost every day!

You can start by asking around on the various FB groups (Wannabees, etc) and taking it from there on?

      Greetings,
      Thys

  3. Thanks it was a great event and my kids loved riding from home to school….5km’s !!! with big smiles on their faces! However the bike path from Jamestown to Blaauklippen robots needs to be completed ASAP. Riding with two 8 year olds on the R44 is not fun. Motorists drive ridiculously fast and many don’t give you a wide enough shoulder, despite flashing red lights on our bikes! Disgusting! Also on the path itself from Paradyskloof Engen garage to Van Reede robots there is a ridiculous amount of pedestrian traffic and the path is too narrow for both parties to comfortably ride and walk on. Thanks.

    1. Thanks, Linda, we had good support from especially parents and kids last week cycling to school. Quite a few for the first time. That last section of the cycle path to Jamestown has to be completed by the Provincial Department, very frustrating situation for all of us, I agree. We will give the Stellenbosch Traffic dept. your feedback.

  4. Hallo from The United States! I am not a mountain biker, or really not even a road biker. I prefer bike paths and trails, not on road with cars if possible. I am also more interested in taking off on my own, rather on a bike tour. Anyway, is there a place in Stellenbosch where I can rent a bike for a half day? Also, do I understand that there is a trail that follows the EersteRiver out to Jonkershuek Nature Reserve? Any help is appreciated. I couldn’t find a website or email address for Stellenbosch Fietsry to ask this questions to.

    1. Hi Robert, you can rent a bike from BMT in Dorp Street, a very friendly local cycle shop or even from Ride Inn at the bottom of the Jonkershoek valley. There is a cycle path in Jonkershoek which is shared with pedestrians running alongside the tar road, leading from Martinson Street into the Jonkerhoek valley right up to the gate of the reserve. It you rent a mountain bike you can buy a permit and ride on the circle road inside the reserve, which is a gravel road. There is also a cycle path along the Eerste River starting out from behind the Markotter Sports complex from where you can cycle to Koloniesland, just follow the signage.

  5. Anyone cycling (or planning on doing so) from Devonvale/Bottelary area on Devon Vallei / JC le Roux road, can pop me an email. We are trying to get two groups together:
Leave from Devonvale at 6:40am or 7:10am
And in the afternoons leave from Shell garage at bottom of Drop street at 5:10pm or 5:40pm

  6. Could you please forward me the manufacturers on the bicycle racks installed all over Stellenbosch, I would like to have a bicycle rack installed in front of my office in Dorp street
